Temple Judea Funds

DEEPLY ROOTED IN OUR TEMPLE’S 70 YEAR HISTORY, EACH FUND BELOW PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT LONGSTANDING AND MEANINGFUL MITZVOT.

Temple Judea is proud to offer opportunities for members, and the community-at-large, to recognize important life-cycle events through meaningful and thoughtful contributions. From birthdays to remembering loved ones who have passed, these generous gifts support a wide range of activities from temple programming, school and camp based scholarships, youth activities, worship services, basic temple needs, and community tzedakah projects.

ADULT EDUCATION

Goldberg Adult Education Fund – The purpose of this fund is to defray costs associated with the Temple Judea Adult Education Programs.

Eric B. Meyers Scholar-in-Residence Fund – Established by Debbie (z”l) and Russell Silverman in memory of Eric B. Meyers, this fund ensures that Temple Judea annually hosts a Scholar-in-Residence program featuring a graduate or faculty member of the Hebrew Union College.

CHESED

Argentinian Relief Fund – The purpose of this fund is to assist local Argentinians in need of financial assistance.

Eisenstat Soup Kitchen Fund – The purpose of this fund is to support the efforts of Temple Judea members who volunteer to shop, cook and serve hot meals and provide ancillary items for those in need within in our greater Miami community.

Marjorie Spritzer Caring Community Fund – Established by the family of Marjorie Spritzer, this fund supports Temple Judea’s caring committee, known today as, A Caring Touch.  This committee is comprised of Temple Judea members who volunteer to help those in need by providing hospital or home-bound visits, counseling, Shabbat challah, hot meals, ritual objects, mitzvah projects for congregants and other supportive offerings.

Russian Fund – Established by the Corenblum Family, this fund helps support the needs of Temple Judea’s sister community’s Religious School in Petrozavodsk, Russia.

Vicki Hamersmith Chesed Fund – Established by the Hamersmith Family in memory of Vicki Hamersmith, this fund supports the efforts of the Temple Judea caring committee known today as, A Caring Touch. This committee is comprised of Temple Judea members who volunteer to help those in need by providing hospital or home-bound visits, counseling, Shabbat challah, hot meals, ritual objects, mitzvah projects for congregants and other supportive offerings.

GENERAL

Memorial Fund – The purpose of this fund is to honor a loved one who has passed.  All donations support the general operating needs of Temple Judea.

Simcha Fund – The purpose of this fund is to recognize birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebratory life cycle events and supports the general operating needs of Temple Judea.

Live-streaming Global Outreach Fund – Temple Judea is dedicated to connecting and bringing prayer to all congregants, those considering membership, as well as those who may be interested in learning more about our Jewish faith. Live Streaming is one of our temple’s local and global outreach program priorities.

LEADERSHIP

Miriam and Gerald Barocas Leadership Endowment – Established by the Barcoas family, this fund helps to defray costs associated with Temple Judea leadership training and professional development.

MARGAUX EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL

Margaux Early Childhood School Fund – This purpose of this fund enhances programs at the Margaux Early Childhood School and support the school’s overall annual needs.

Samantha Jane Kessler Preschool Fund – Established by the Kessler Family in memory of their daughter, Samantha Jane Kessler, this fund supports the overall needs of the Margaux Early Childhood School.

MEDICAL INSURANCE

Carol Magidson Medical Insurance Fund – Established by David Magidson along with family and friends in memory of Carol Magidson, this fund assists uninsured Temple Judea members and their immediate family/families in obtaining one year of medical insurance coverage.

MITZVAH FUNDS

B’nai Mitzvah Director’s Mitzvah Fund – The purpose of this fund is to allow the B’nai Mitzvah Director to support charitable, congregational and/or professional needs on behalf of Temple Judea.

Cantorial Soloist’s Mitzvah Fund – The purpose of this fund is to allow the Cantorial Soloist to support charitable, congregational and/or professional needs, as determined by the Cantorial Soloist on behalf of Temple Judea.

Rabbi Siegal’s Mitzvah Fund – The purpose of this fund is to allow the Rabbi to support charitable, congregational and/or professional needs, as determined by the Rabbi on behalf of Temple Judea.

Rabbi Fisch’s Mitzvah Fund – The purpose of this fund is to allow the Rabbi to support charitable, congregational and/or professional needs, as determined by the Rabbi on behalf of Temple Judea.

OUR CAMPUS

Aibel Family Grand Courtyard Fund – Established by the Aibel Family, this fund underwrites costs associated with the renovation, improvement and annual care of the Temple Judea Aibel Family Grand Courtyard.  

Ann and Victor Reiter Art Fund – Established by the Reiter Family to create, the “museum, gallery at Temple Judea” this fund is now used to underwrite costs associated with the maintenance and annual care of what is today known as the Reiter Pavilion.

Mel Harrison Library Fund – Established by the family of Mel Harrison, the purpose of this fund is to manage, refurbish, develop and enhance the Temple Judea Library.

Mildred Weissel Brown Refurbishing Fund – Established by the family of Mildred Weissel Brown, the purpose of this fund is to underwrite costs associated with refurnishing or restoring existing Temple Judea furniture and or worship materials.

PROGRAMMING

Baskin-Gordon Technion Memorial Lecture Endowment Fund – Established by the Baskin Family in memory of their parents, Meyer and Florence Baskin Gordon, this fund provides support for annual congregational and community-wide lectures.

Epstein Programming Fund – Established by Merritt & Betty Epstein, this fund is to help defray costs associated with Temple Judea based or community-wide program staffing and/or program activities.

Pearl and Otto Delikat Holocaust Education Fund – Established by the Delikat family, this fund defrays costs associated with Holocaust educational and remembrance programs.

SCHOLARSHIPS (CAMP COLEMAN, HIGH SCHOOL IN ISREAL, L’TAKEN, MARGAUX EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL, SHIR AMI RELIGIOUS SCHOOL, URJ IN ISRAEL)

Al and Edna Jacobson Memorial Fund – The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships for Temple Judea students to attend Camp Coleman and the Shir Ami Religious School L’Taken trip

Goldstein Camp Scholarship Fund – The purpose of this fund is to subsidize children or teens whose families demonstrate a financial need as a barrier to attending camping programs provided by Temple Judea or the URJ.  This opportunity for support also applies to URJ sponsored Israel Youth Programs.

Harvey Miller Scholarship Fund – The purpose of this fund is to provide school scholarships to Temple Judea members who demonstrate a financial need and have children enrolled within our Margaux Early Childhood School and/or the Shir Ami Religious School.

Marvin Levin Scholarship Fund – The purpose of this fund is to support member families on dues consideration by helping to subsidize student tuition for those with children attending the Shir Ami Religious School.

Peter Teichner Scholarship Fund – Established by Dr. Ronald and Marcia Teichner in memory of their son, Peter Teichner, this fund provides scholarships to children whose family demonstrate a financial need as a barrier to attending the High School in Israel Program.

SHIR AMI RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

Ray Berman Education Fund – The purpose of this fund is to help defray costs of programs and/or equipment to enhance the Temple Judea Shir Ami Religious School programs.

TEMPLE JUDEA ENDOWMENTS

The Rabbinic Endowment Fund – Continuity of Community – Established by Temple Judea, this fund was specifically created to demonstrate Temple Judea’s unwavering commitment to protecting our most basic and fundamental spiritual, social, cultural and religious core – our Continuity of Community – our rabbinic leadership. Temple Judea regards this endowment as the most sound and dependable opportunity for our families of today, to fulfill their generational promise to our families of tomorrow.

Unrestricted Endowment Fund – Established by Temple Judea in order to endow youth-oriented programs, activities, educational workshops, seminars, Judaic-based experiential travel and provide scholarships as determined by the Temple Judea Endowment Board and the Board of Trustees.

THE ARTS

Kalish Artist-in-Residence Endowment Fund – Established by Ronald (z”l) and Nedra Kalish in memory of their daughter, Hillary Kalish, this fund is to encourage and increase endowment giving by all persons for our “Artist-in-Residence” program at Temple Judea.  This fund has been created to also ensure that an AIR program exists biannually at Temple Judea.

Linda Pallot Art Education and Enrichment Fund – Established by the family and friends of artist Linda Pallot; mother of Richard and Maxwell, in order to recognize the value of visual arts to our community.  This fund underwrites or defrays the costs of visual arts-related education and program staffing and/or program activities, with a primary focus on Temple Judea youth and their families.

WORSHIP

Estelle Michelson Prayer Book Fund – The purpose of this fund help is to defray costs associated with purchasing new prayer books and/or printing the Temple Judea annual creative service prayer books.

Oneg Shabbat and Floral Pulpit Fund – The purpose of this fund is to provide lite food offering after Friday evening Shabbat services at Temple Judea.  This fund also ensures that Temple Judea will have Bimah florals for all non-High Holy Day worship services.

Terri Levan Katz High Holy Day Floral Fund – The purpose of this fund is to specifically provide Bimah florals during the High Holy Days.

YOUTH

College Fund – The purpose of this fund is help subsidize the Temple Judea’s College Committee’s activities, programs and outreach to college students.

Linda Martin Youth Activities Fund – Established in memory of Linda Martin, this fund supports special youth activities, youth-related capital improvements as well as provides additional funding for regional or local Mitzvah Projects.

High Holy Day Youth Services and Cultural Endowment Fund – Established by the Burger family this fund primarily underwrites costs associated with the annual Temple Judea High Holy Day Youth Services during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.  Furthermore this fund also supports various other Temple Judea cultural, social and religious services.

Sheldon and Bonnie Guren Self-Esteem and Character Building Fund – Established by the Guren Family to support youth in strengthening their self-esteem and building their Jewish identity, this fund underwrites youth empowering programs, workshops, curriculum-based activities and inspirational speakers.
