Dear Temple Judea members,

I am honored to have been selected as the Senior Rabbi of Temple Judea, beginning July 1, 2014. It has been a privilege to serve this wonderful congregation for the past seven years as one of its rabbis.  Temple Judea is a truly special place, and it has become our family’s spiritual home because of the warmth we have found here. Having had the opportunity to work with such talented and dedicated lay leaders and staff, I have been and continue to be inspired by this thriving kehillah kedosha (sacred community).

Temple Judea has begun an important process of clarifying the vision and priorities for its future.  Now, I look forward to working together to continue building a community where our congregants feel valued and connected to each other and to God and our Jewish traditions.  I am confident that we will continue to work together to grow spiritually, search for our purpose as individuals and as a group and live out our best values in a more meaningful, constructive and life affirming way.

Through teaching Torah, leading prayer, and building community, my goal is to work in partnership with Temple Judea’s lay leadership to help our Jewish kehila become more conscious of how we live our lives and develop greater concern for the world and our role in changing it for the better.

I want to thank Caroline Heck Miller, the Search Committee, the Board of Trustees, the Executive Committee, Barry Schwartz and Rabbi Peter Knobel for all they have done to ensure that the rabbinic search process was fair, open and thorough.

I look forward to many wonderful years ahead for our community, full of simchas, learning and growth, strengthening, connecting and maasim tovim (good works), building on our strong foundation and continuing to strive for excellence in all we do. Todah Rabah, Thank you for this opportunity.

L’Shalom,

Rabbi Judith L. Siegal
