Camp Jenny

Camp Jenny, is a four day camp held at one of the URJ sleepaway camps; Camp Coleman every Memorial Day weekend in Georgia. Camp Jenny gives elementary school children from inner-city Atlanta the opportunity to receive the love of big “brothers and sisters,” three nutritious meals a day, and encouragement for the future. They also enjoy activities such as hiking in the mountains, swimming, canoeing in the lake, arts and crafts, and a variety of sports and team building activities. Unfortunately, these are rare luxuries for most of them. Camp Jenny strives to provide children an opportunity to set goals in life and give the hope for a bright future. Most importantly, Camp Jenny has allowed these kids to be kids in a beautiful and safe place. Camp Jenny is sponsored by NFTY-SAR and NFTY-STR, as well as being subsidized by Camp Coleman. Camp Jenny is run by Jewish youth from across the Southeastern United States. This is a wonderful program for all high school teens to apply for and participate in.

The North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) is the Reform Jewish youth movement that fosters leadership at the national, regional and congregational level. It is advised by a set of adult Jewish youth professionals. Comprised of over 750 international synagogue youth groups, NFTY also functions as a youth organization, an affiliate and as a program of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). NFTY is divided into different regions and Temple Judea is a proud participant in NFTY STR (Southern Tropical Region)!

NFTYites forge and build friendships, lifelong Reform Jewish identities, and leadership skills through community building, worship, social action, and experiential youth-led Jewish educational programming. Many NFTY leaders continue on to become both lay and professional leaders of the Reform Jewish Movement.
